About this piece
Cast plaster forms a vertical bouquet of open flowers, small blossoms, buds and deeply curled acanthus foliage against a plain rectangular field. Layered petals and overlapping leaves create pronounced relief, while the long central stems give the wall panel a clear upright direction. The composition is loosely balanced rather than strictly symmetrical, with projecting leaf tips and recessed spaces producing varied shadow.
