About this piece
Cast plaster gives this ceiling medallion a deeply modelled arrangement of ten radiating compartments around a central chandelier opening. Alternating panels carry pierced acanthus-like scrollwork, floral roundels, trailing foliage and small fruit forms. Repeated rosettes define each radial division and continue around the outer border, while stepped frames give the ceiling medallion clear architectural depth. The dense, symmetrical enrichment suits formal entrance halls, reception rooms, dining rooms and other interiors requiring a large ornamental centrepiece above a chandelier or pendant.
