About this piece
Cast plaster forms an oval ceiling design built from visibly joined sections. Slender, radiating ribs fill the broad outer field, each containing layered acanthus, shell, and floral relief. A moulded inner border encloses dense scrolling foliage around a plain central area. Two circular floral compositions extend into this centre, creating an offset arrangement within the otherwise symmetrical design. The repeated relief and defined perimeter suit an ornamental ceiling scheme or shallow dome treatment.
