About this piece
Cast plaster forms a heavily modelled fireplace surround with a broad mantel shelf, layered plinth and moulded inner opening. Deep folds of drapery cross the shelf and descend along one side, meeting floral garlands, scrolling acanthus leaves and a fan-shaped shell above the firebox. A framed cartouche anchors the lower centre between clusters of flowers and foliage. Cast in our Seattle studio, this fireplace surround suits formal interiors, period-inspired rooms and historic restoration work requiring pronounced relief and hand-finished ornament.
