About this piece
Cast plaster gives this fireplace surround a broad, sculptural face arranged around an arched firebox opening. The projecting nose, narrowed eyes and sweeping horn-like brows create deep shadow across the upper section, while curled terminals anchor the composition at each side. Above, radiating panels rise into a stepped, broken pediment with a strong central block. The surround suits interiors calling for theatrical Baroque ornament and pronounced figural relief. It is modelled, moulded and cast in our Seattle studio.
