About this piece
Cast plaster gives this fireplace surround a firm architectural frame of panelled jambs, layered opening mouldings and a projecting mantel shelf. Acanthus capitals mark the outer uprights, while paired floral scrolls flank a raised central palmette panel. The egg-and-dart course beneath the shelf carries the enrichment continuously across the chimney breast. Crisp edges and controlled relief keep the ornament legible without obscuring the rectilinear Georgian structure. Cast in our Seattle studio, the surround suits formal living rooms, dining rooms and historic restoration interiors.
