About this piece
Cast plaster capitals & bases provide ornamental transitions for column assemblies. Within this capitals & bases design, broad acanthus leaves descend from stepped circular bands above paired inward scrolls. A small flower centres the lower relief. Deep carving creates pronounced shadows beneath the overlapping foliage, while smooth curved surfaces define the scrolls and upper rings.
